ZAMBOANGA CITY - Soldiers of Joint Task Force Sulu recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) in Barangay Tumantangis, Indanan, Sulu last Saturday, April 16.

Maj. Gen. Ignatius Patrimonio, Joint Task Force Sulu Commander, said operating troops under the 100th Infantry Battalion were conducting patrol Saturday morning when they found the explosive.
Additional forces were deployed to secure the area where the IED was found.
“We also deployed our explosive and ordnance disposal team in the area, and they successfully defused the IED,” said Col. Giovanni Franza, 1102nd Infantry Brigade Commander.
Maj. Gen. Patrimonio commended the troops for their latest accomplishment.
A total of five explosives have been recovered by government troops in Sulu since January this year.
