Black Saturday tragedy: 15-year old girl drowns in Infanta beach


INFANTA, Quezon -- A family outing ended in a tragedy as one of the family members drowned while swimming at a beach resort here on Black Saturday.

Fifteen-year old Justine Adopina Segismundo and five others in the family were swimming at the Resplandor Boulevard Beach Resort in barangay Binulusan in this town when they were swept by strong waves to deep portions.

Five of them survived the strong current after they were rescued but Justine Adopina was not fortunate.

The victims were rushed to a nearby Claro Recto District Hospital but the attending physician, Dr. Norizcelle Pearl Bartolome, declared Justine dead on arrival.

The survivors were identified as Arnel Fornillos Segismundo, 47; Arlene Adopina Segismundo, 17; Florencio Alfaro Chan, 49; Ailene Adopina Segismundo, 17 and Jennilyn Adopina Alfaro, 15, all residents of Binangonan, Rizal.
