John Albert Mantua and Evalyn Palabrica made their presence felt at the Singapore Open Track and Field Championships Saturday after ruling their respective divisions.

Mantua captured the men’s shotput gold medal after outshining teammate and reigning Southeast Asian Games champion William Morrison with a heave of 17.33 meters.
Morrison settled for the silver medal with 16.61m – a far cry from his own Philippine record of 18.38m – while 2019 SEAG silver medalist Muhammad Ziyad Bin Zolkefli of Malaysia finished bronze with 16.54m.
Janry Ubas, meanwhile, came in eighth with 11.18m.

Teammate Sarah Dequinan settled for silver with 45.08m.
In other events, Alvin John Vergel won silver in the men’s 110m hurdles with 14.90 seconds behind eventual winner Chen Xiang Ang of Singapore (14.24sec).
