Melvin Calano and Mark Harry Diones added another mint in the Philippine team’s war chest after ruling their respective events in the 2022 Singapore Open Track and Field Championships Saturday afternoon.

Calano, the reigning Southeast Asian Games champion, dominated the men’s javelin throw with a heave of 66.23 meters on his third attempt ahead of Yijie Lucas Wong (58.10m) and Roy Ng Kai Leong (47.44m).
Diones and Ronne Malipay, meanwhile, completed a 1-2 finish in the men’s triple jump by posting 15.69m and 15.58m, respectively.
Also sharing the podium were Alfrence Braza, who settled for silver in the men’s 1500m hurdles with a time of 3 minutes and 59.19 seconds, and Francis Medina, who took home the bronze in the men’s 400m hurdles in 53.20sec.
So far, the PH team has four gold, five silver and two bronze medals heading to the last day of competitions Sunday.
