Adamson relishes win vs FEU but Lastimosa says 'job is not yet done'

Adamson star Jerom Lastimosa could not help but feel ecstatic after ending their five-game skid in the UAAP Season 84 men's basketball tournament last April 12.

Lastimosa orchestrated a crucial play by drawing defenders in the paint before passing the ball to Matty Erolon, who sank a game-winning corner triple to give the Falcons a 64-63 victory against the Far Eastern University at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Adamson stalwart, however, remained grounded and kept his focus on the mission in the long run which is to win as many games as possible for a slim chance in the Final Four picture.
"Sabi nga ni coach Nash (Racela), happy but not totally happy kasi the job is not yet done," said Lastimosa, who posted 17 points built on three triples to go with eight rebounds. "Pero happy pa rin kasi finally nanalo na din kami sa mga ganyan (close games), lalong lalo na sa mga ganyang sitwasyon. Parang naiintindihan namin 'yong mga ganyan, like end game ."
Erolon, for his part, deflected the credit to Lastimosa for his unselfish playmaking which enabled the Falcons to break free of their seven straight losses against the Tamaraws.
The rookie guard only suited up for 12 seconds but managed to score five points including the game-winning three.
"Ni-ready ko na lang po 'yong sarili ko and 'di ko namna po magagawa 'yon kung 'di dahil kay Jerom," said Erolon. "Kasi umatake po siya para ma-penetrate, makakuha ng depensa tapos para malibre din po ako."
He also expressed gratitude to Racela for giving his hundred percent trust in making those clutch shots.
"'Di po ako pinawisan sa laro non pero grabe 'yong tiwala niya po sa akin," added the 19-year-old Erolon.
Racela commended his wards for a gritty showing sans the paint reinforcement brought by Lenda Douanga, who is nursing an ankle injury.
For the past couple of games, the Falcons have found themselves in a nip and tuck affair.
This time though, they delivered in the end game and the Adamson coach is hopeful that his players would execute the same energy when the league resumes on April 19 after the Holy Week break.
"I am happy for our team because even without Lenda, we were able to compete and win today," said Racela. "That's something that we made clear before the game, that as long as we give our best, do our part, even with any kind of lineup that we have will give us a chance to victory."
