39 wanted persons, 18 drug personalities arrested in Cordillera

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A total of 39 wanted persons and 18 drug personalities were arrested during a weeklong operation in Cordillera region as authorities continued their relentless drive to rid the society of undesirables.

Based on the record from the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD) of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera (PROCOR), the Baguio City Police Office has recorded the highest number of arrests after nabbing 17 wanted persons.

Benguet PPO arrested eight, Abra PPO cornered six wanted, Kalinga PPO arrested five while Ifugao PPO nabbed three.

The manhunt operations were highlighted with the arrest of 15 people included in the list of Most Wanted Persons on various levels. Three were listed at the Provincial Level, five at the City Level, two at the Municipal Level, and seven Station Level.

At the Provincial Level, arrested personalities were identified as Aljon Linan, listed as No. 2 for the crime of rape; Abner Baligod, listed as No. 3 for violation of the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 and Marvin Salay, listed as No.3 for the crime of Statutory Rape.

At the City Level, the police arrested Jonas Atencio, listed as No.4 for Anti-Trafficking in person; Jhoemar Raposas, No.6 for the crime of Rape; Evelyn Bravo, listed as No.7 for Qualified Theft; Ricky Binuloc Gunnawa, No.5 for violation of RA 9262 or the the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004 and Josie Sajonas Colom, listed as No.5 MWP (Station Level) of 2nd Quarter of 2022.

The week-long anti-illegal drugs operation has resulted in the arrest of 18 drug personalities, while a total of P5,527,000.00 worth of marijuana plants were eradicated in Kibungan,Benguet and Tinglayan,Kalinga.

Records showed that the BCPO recorded the highest number of arrests with 12 drug personalities followed by Kalinga PPO with three drug personalities; two in Benguet PPO and one in Apayao PPO.

Operatives seized 16.1525 grams of shabu worth P109,837, 7006 grams of dried marijuana leaves and stalks with an estimated value of P840,720 and 585 ml of marijuana oil valued at P29,250 during the buy-bust operations.

All arrested suspects will be facing charges for violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

In Benguet, about 3,910 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants (FGMJP) valued at P782,000.00 and 6,000 grams of marijuana stalks with an SDP of P720,000.00 were confiscated destroyed.

In Kalinga, a total of 10,500 pieces of FGMJP worth P2,100,000.00; 15,000 grams of dried marijuana leaves with an SDP of P1,800,000.00; and 5,000 grams of marijuana seeds with an SDP of P125,000.00 were also destroyed by the operatives.
