Ignored by the Progressive Movement for Devolution of Initiatives (Promdi) party and deserted by Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) party, a Pangasinan mayoral candidate sought alliance with independent presidential candidate Senator Panfilo M. Lacson.
Mayoral bet Roberto Mosuela of Bautista, Pangasinan has reached out to Lacson to form a ‘’possible alliance with him upon realizing that his brand of uncompromising leadership is what the country needs to move forward from traditional politics.’’
In a letter dated April 11, 2022, Mosuela expressed his team’s “sincere desire” to support Lacson’s after they were reportedly left to also fend for themselves by two political parties in the middle of the local campaign period.
According to Mosuela, his team was “groping in the dark” while looking for an official political party to lean on, when a coordinator from the Promdi approached his group to offer them a Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA).
He said this happened right before they filed their certificates of candidacies. Since then, however, they never heard anything from Promdi. The party is led by its honorary chairperson and standard-bearer Emmanuel ‘’Manny’’ Pacquiao.
“From then on until today, we were left out in the cold and, for reasons of their , the Promdi never contacted us up to this day,” Mosuela wrote in his letter. Thereafter, he said, the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) came to their rescue, but also failed them in the end.
“PFP recruited us with the other mayoral teams of various municipalities. They promised us millions and millions of cash and logistics too good to be true. The PFP deserted us also like PROMDI did and so, Mr. Senator, we are here now,” Mosuela told Lacson.
Mosuela said his commitment of support for Lacson and proposal for them to help each other out come with no strings attached.
“Our team come to realize your brand of leadership is what our beloved country needs in these perilous and uncertain times,” the aspiring mayor noted.
“Magtulungan tayo, sir tayo ay magtatagumpay (We are not asking for much. Just a little bit of your attention, sir, is okay with us. We hope you can accept us, Mr. Senator, and God-willing we will be successful),’’ Mosuela concluded in his letter.
The PFP is the party of former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.
