Marcos vows to establish a vaccination registry system for every LGU

Should he win in the May 2022 elections, presidential candidate and former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. said he would establish an immunization registry system for every local government unit (LGU) in the country.

Marcos said this is to ensure that all Filipinos would have an easy access to their immunization records. The former lawmaker said an immunization registry system would allow citizens’ quicker access through digital platforms instead of the usual physical documents.

The Partido Federal ng Pilipinas standard-bearer said the system will also provide quick response (QR) codes to each individual vaccinated which can be shown upon entry to any establishment in the country.

According to Marcos, this is only part of the many programs of he and his running mate, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte is planning to address the continuous threat of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Our unifying leadership shall provide measures and strategies on how Filipinos can improve their lives and how the Philippine economy can rebound while in the midst of the pandemic and even beyond it,” Marcos said in a statement.

“We shall increase the budget for the country’s healthcare system, increase health workers’ salaries and benefits, add more public hospitals, and boost the country’s medical research capability,” he also stressed.

Other than an immunization registry system, Marcos also said he is planning to increase the number of specialty hospitals in every region like the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI), Lung Center of the Philippines and the Philippine Heart Center.

He also said he plans to expand the role of the rural health units in providing first-line healthcare services to the public.
