Former national defense secretary Gilbert Teodoro has stressed the need to remove some existing laws in government that are already irrelevant and have become a regulatory burden to major companies and the general public.
That is why, should he win in the May 2022 senatorial elections, Teodoro said he will smoothen and harmonize laws by pulling out legislations that are no longer relevant.
“I believe that the legislative branch now needs to review our laws,” Teodoro said in a statement.
Teodoro, former Tarlac representative and a Bar topnotcher, is running for the Senate in the upcoming polls.
He said it is high-time that Congress reviews all laws and reveal which of these can be repealed or amended to serve the public better.
“Some of these laws are outdated and inefficient that need to be repealed or consolidated in order not to add to the complexity of our regulatory system and policies,” he explained.
Aside from legislations, he also pointed out that regulatory issuances of both national agencies and local government units (LGUs) should also be reviewed for streamlining.
The senatorial bet also said he believes the government should create a central body that will coordinate regulatory reforms to ensure that there is coherence in government laws, regulations and policies.
