Año commends DILG's 93 new lawyers

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año congratulated Wednesday, April 13, the 93 lawyers of the department and its attached agencies who passed the 2020-2021 bar examinations.

“To our new lawyers, I laud you for your diligence despite the difficulties and delays in your bar (examinations) that is brought about by the (Covid-19) pandemic,’’ Año said.

The passers from the DILG Central Office are Jocelyn V. Pelantagaan-Reyes of National Barangay Operations Office; Keith B. Mengullo and Aldrin James Natial of Legal and Legislative Liaison Service; and, Izza Mari D. Laurio of Center for Federalism and Constitutional Reform Project Management Office.

In the DILG regional offices, the passers include Erika Me U. Gumabol of DILG-MIMAROPA; Hazel O. Deocareza of DILG-Region V; Angelo S. Mahinay, Rhoel A. Tumarao, Michael Vencynth H. Braga and Grace Melanie Lacamiento of DILG-Region VII; Runiel Reel Matorres, Dave Robert Capada and Pierra M. Fuentespina Lamayo of DILG-Region VI; Krystelle Deane C. Sabdula of DILG-Region IX; and, Renz Angelo Umambong and April Joy G. Siongco of DILG-Region II.

“Inaasahan namin na kayo’y magpapatuloy maging matino, mahusay, at maaasahan sa bagong yugto ng inyong mga buhay bilang abogado (We expect that you will continue to be righteous, good and dependable in your new journeys as lawyers),’’ he added while expressing hopes that the new lawyers working in the Department will practice their legal profession as public servants.

“May you all continue to inspire us with your perseverance and properly administer justice in performing your duties as guardians of the law,” Año lamented.

Año also congratulated a total of 77 bar passers from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM), and National Commission for Muslim Filipimos (NCMF) commending their efforts amid the high demands of public service and the ongoing Covid-19.

"Passing the bar exam is no easy feat especially if you are committed to public service in these trying times due to the Covid-19 pandemic kaya naman binabati ko ang ating mga kasama sa BJMP, BFP, NAPOLCOM, at NCMF na ngayon ay bagong mga abogado na (that is why I congratulate our peers at the BJMP, BFP, NAPOLCOM and NCMF who are now new lawyers),’’ he noted.

“To our attached agencies, I look forward to working together as partners in our continuous pursuit to serve the public,” Año said. (Chito A. Chavez)
