RSG's Light gets nod for regular season MVP plum

RSG Philippines' roamer Dylan “Light” Catipon got the nod for the regular season MVP award after guiding his team to a top seed finish at the end of the eliminations.

Part of the TNC squad that had a forgettable stint in Season 8, Light found himself without a team prior to the start of the season but completed his own redemption arc after garnering a total of 53 points from the caster’s votes, thanks to his stellar performance with RSG.

Among the players he beat for the MVP plum were former teammate Ben “Benthings” Maglaque who finished second with 38 points and midlane running mate Arvie “Aqua” Antonio who was in third spot with 10 points.

Light proved to be a vital cog for RSG which finished the regular season with a league-best 11-3 standing with 31 points across the board. The former Work Auster Force roamer provided the stability and veteran presence especially in the late game – something that RSG’s Season 8 seemed to be lacking as it struggled to close out games.

Under Light’s leadership and shot calling, young guns in Jhonard “Demonkite” Caranto and Eman “Emann” Sangco also flourished well in their respective roles, a big reason why RSG managed to take down even the likes of the ‘super team’ ECHO and M3 runner-up Onic Philippines along the way.

Light placed third in the assist department with a 223 total behind No.1 and 2 Onic’s Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy and ECHO’s Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera which had 278 and 260 assists respectively. He also averaged 6.97 assists per game.

RSG got an outright upper bracket spot in the playoffs and will face the winner between Nexplay Evos and Onic.
