There’s another Diokno in the legal profession.
Senatorial candidate and human rights lawyer Chel Diokno congratulated daughter Laya Elena for passing the 2020-2021 Bar Exam, the results of which were published on Tuesday, April 12.

“Congrats and a huge hug Laya! Sooo proud of you. Another Diokno enters the fray, ready to wage courtroom battles for truth and justice,” the esteemed lawyer and founding dean of the De La Salle University’s College of Law wrote on Facebook.
“Lolo Pepe, Lolo Ramon and Lolo Ananias are smiling from heaven. Can’t wait to appear in court beside you,” Diokno added.
The Dioknos have a long line of lawyers in the family, with the senatorial candidate being the son of statesman Jose “Ka Pepe” Diokno and the grandson of former Supreme Court Associate Justice Ramon Diokno.
The senatorial candidate’s Facebook post has 31,000 reactions, more than 980 comments, and more than 950 shares as of posting time.
Celebrity Edu Manzano also congratulated Laya on Twitter.
“Laya Elena Diokno - daughter of Senatorial candidate Atty. Chel Diokno has also passed the bar. Cheers to another Diokno continuing the legacy of Fmr Sen. Ka Pepe Diokno in the service of the Filipino,” he tweeted.
Earlier, the actor shared that Diokno's father was their family lawyer in 1961 and that his father always spoke highly of the Diokno family.
"Integrity, honesty and patriotism were at the top of the list," he wrote.
A total of 8,241 passed the 2020-2021 Bar Examinations, the Supreme Court said Tuesday.

This is equivalent to 72.28 percent of the total 11, 402 law graduates who took the Bar exams on Feb. 4 and 6 after a two-year hiatus because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Of the 8,241 Bar passers, 761 are exemplary passers for scoring 85 percent to 90 percent in the exams.
Fourteen Bar passers earned the recognition for excellent performance after getting grades higher than 90 percent.
