Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Socorro Inting has resigned as head of the Committee on the Ban on Firearms and Security Concerns.

Her office confirmed her resignation on Tuesday, April 12.
When asked for a statement, Inting's office shared this message from the poll official:"I am a Justice by heart than a Comelec Commissioner. I will maintain a dignified silence. My resignation is a passive protest.”
Inting's resignation comes a day after Comelec Chairman Saidamen Pangarungan announced that the en banc on April 6 has authorized him to place areas under Comelec Control.
"In urgent and meritorious cases, the Chairman of the Commission is authorized to place Election Areas of Concern under Comelec Control," he said in a press briefing.
The resolution was approved by Pangarungan, Commissioners Rey Bulay, George Garcia and Aimee Neri.
Dissenting or expressing their reservations were Commissioners Inting, Marlon Casquejo and Aimee Ferolino.
Previously, it is the en banc that has the authority to place certain areas in the country under Comelec Control.
The en banc has amended Resolution No. 10728 to recalibrate the rules and regulations on the election gun ban.
