Faithful urged to find time to observe Holy Week traditions

With the ease in restrictions and mobility, Ozamis Archbishop Martin Jumoad urged the faithful to find time to observe Holy Week rituals and traditions particularly during the Paschal Triduum.

With many planning to go on vacation, the bishop said, the faithful must also find time for their spiritual obligations.

“As Christians, we have to find time to reflect and attend Church rites and rituals this Holy Week in our local parishes, If we have the time to go to the beach, to go on vacation, let us find time during the Paschal Triduum on Maundy Thursday or Good Friday to go to church,” Archbishop Jumoad said over Radio Veritas.

“Let us give importance to nourishing our faith particularly during the Holy Week especially during the Paschal Triduum. Let us reflect on the passion, death and resurrection of Christ that saved man from eternal damnation,” he added.

Archbishop Jumoad stressed that the resurrection of Christ on Easter Sunday is the foundation of the Christian faith.

“I urge our Catholic faithful who will go on vacation to find time to go to church especially on Easter Sunday to celebrate the core of our faith. Without Christ’s resurrection, our faith is nothing,” the Church leader said.

Meanwhile, the second day of the well-preserved religious tradition of the “pabasa” will be held on Holy Tuesday, April 12. The observance of the three-day “pabasa,” the marathon chanting of the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus lifted from the pages of the Holy Bible, started yesterday, Holy Monday.

Today’s mass readings and reflections will focus on Judas Iscariot’s betrayal of Jesus in exchange for thirty pieces of silver coins and of Saint Peter’s denial of Jesus. The Church calls on the faithful to go to confession and to support its Fast2Feed Lenten feeding program.
