President Duterte said on Tuesday, April 12, that his remaining months in office remain crucial.

"The three remaining months of my administration are very crucial as we continue to address the country’s problems that have long been affecting the lives of our citizens," Duterte said during the Joint National Task Force (NTF)-Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) meeting in Butuan City.
Duterte said ending insurgency and attaining peace remain critical as he nears the end of his term.
"The completion of my commitments towards achieving peace, progress and prosperity remains critical as my term comes to a close," he said.
During his speech, the President expressed that he is pleased with the national and regional task force in helping him to "collectively realize" the government's mission to end communist insurgency.
"Accessibility to reform and welfare programs is imperative --- it should be our imperative --- to help end the decades-long insurgency problem that has curtailed development in the countryside," he added.
"To the national and local partners of this particular endeavor, be assured of the Administration’s unrelenting gratitude and support for your initiatives towards securing lasting peace and understanding among our people," he continued.
The President also enjoined local chief executives in Caraga "to synergize their efforts in the fight against lawlessness and insurgency."
"I believe that our continued efforts to cultivate harmony, respect and cooperation will enable the Philippines to emerge a stronger and more peaceful nation than ever," Duterte said.
