The Las Pinas City Tourism Office was recognized by the Department of Tourism (DOT) for its continued support and dedicated service to Philippine tourism.
Mayor Imelda Aguilar thanked DOT Regional Director Sharlene Zabala-Batin for giving a plaque of recognition to the City Tourism Office headed by Paul San Miguel.
Aguilar said San Miguel has been very active in promoting and preserving tourist places in the city for local and foreign visitors.
San Miguel said the most visited place in the city is the Zapote Bridge, which connects the city to Bacoor, Cavite. The bridge was the site of two battles during the Spanish colonial government.
He said the city government is also preserving the Las Pinas-Paranaque Critical Habitat which is composed of a mangrove forest and swamps that provide a habitat for migratory birds.
The tourism chief said the most famous tourist attraction in the city is the Saint Joseph Church, home of the Bamboo Organ.
San Miguel said the city government is also improving the Las Pinas Nursery and Botanical Garden by constructing bahay kubo (nipa hut), placing wooden benches around the place and a picnic ground to make it more appealing to visitors.
