DOH allots P6.1 million for medicines, other supplies for areas devastated by ‘Agaton’


At least P6.1 million was allotted by the Department of Health for the purchases of medicines, health kits, personal protective equipment (PPEs), and other Covid-19 medical supplies for residents affected by the onslaught of tropical depression “Agaton.”

“Sa kasalukuyan po ay mayroon na tayong 6.1 million na naihanda na na puwede na pong magamit ng ating Region V, VI, VII, VIII, and X para po sa pagbili ng gamot at iba pang mga kagamitang medical (Currently, we have prepared P6.1 million that can be used by Region V, VI, VII, VIII, and X for the purchase of medicines and other medical supplies),” DOH Spokesperson Maria Rosario S. Vergeire said during Pres. Duterte’s Talk to the People, Monday, April 11.

The health department said it has P55.7 million readily available logistical provisions at its warehouses located in Regions V, VI, VII, VIII, and X.

After a massive flooding and several landslides caused by "Agaton" in Eastern Visayas, at least 20 people died and six others were reportedly missing.

In Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration’s bulletin issued 11 p.m. on April 11, "Agaton" was last spotted in the vicinity of Santa Rita, Samar with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 70 kph, and it is slowly moving north northwestward.
