TESDA launches nationwide implementation of biometric registration of scholars
The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) on Monday, April 11, launched the nationwide implementation of the Biometric-Enabled Scholarship Registration System (BSRS).

In a statement, the agency said through the implementation of the BSRS, registration of scholars and attendance checking will be more convenient.
TESDA said scholars need to create an account and proceed to the registration through bsrs.tesda.gov.ph using any smart devices connected to the internet.
"With their BSRS profile, one can enroll again in the future without having to register again. He/she can also check where a particular training course is offered. It is like an online one-stop shop for trainees," it said.
TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeña said the BSRS is aimed at securing the agency’s scholarship distribution through the automated authentication process of scholars’ information.
“Strengthening and protecting the integrity of our systems, especially on scholarship implementation has always been among my top priorities,” he said.
The TESDA Chief added that the agency has been implementing programs to streamline and enhance the agency’s services particularly training delivery.
“One way to institute integrity in our systems and processes is by way of automation. Not only does automation improve an organization’s efficiency, but also prevents errors and manipulations caused by human intervention,” he said.
Earlier, TESDA has kicked off the pilot implementation of BSRS in five institutions in the National Capital Region (NCR) and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR). A total of 182 registrants have participated in the pilot testing.
TESDA said the BSRS will be mandatory to all the trainees who will be enrolling for the scholarship programs adding that all TESDA Technology Institutions (TTIs) and Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs) are required to adopt the BSRS.
As of March 31, a total of 1,756 TTIs and TVIs are expected to use BSRS. Some of the institutions have already started using BSRS as part of the pilot implementation.
