'Squid Game' director Hwang Dong-Hyuk reveals two main characters will return to series

"Squid Game" director Hwang Dong-Hyuk and Actor Park Hae-soo have revealed some exciting news about the upcoming second season of "Squid Game."

“Gi-hun for sure. He will be back, and I believe the Front Man will back too,” said Hwang, in an interview.

With the expected return of the two main characters, it was also the first time Hwang confirmed the news to the public. He also gave a teaser that another character played by HoYeon Jung will make an appearance in the series.

After releasing the first season last 2021, the show has received awards, including the Critic's Choice Award for Best Television Series, and People's Choice award for Favorite Bingeworthy Show.

Hwang hopes that the show will open more doors in terms of breaking the language barriers.

“My hope is that a work like 'Squid Game' in a little way has opened the door. I hope American audiences give the piece a chance and that you read the subtitles and watch without dubbing. We’re hoping that we open that opportunity,” Hwang said.

Hwang is currently working on a new project entitled "Killing Old People Club" which will tackle economic inequality. (Carissa Alcantara)
