House Deputy Speaker and Bagong Henerasyon Party-list Rep. Bernadette Herrera has lauded the signing of Executive Order (EO) No. 167, which expands the organizational structure of the Philippine Commision on Women (PCW).

Under EO 167 which President Duterte signed on April 8, the PCW chairperson will function as an undersecretary on a full-time basis.
“We applaud and thank President Duterte for recognizing the role and scope of PCW as the primary policy-making and coordinating body on women and gender equality concerns,” Herrera said in a press statement on Monday, April 11.
Furthermore, two seats for sector representatives will be added to the existing non-government organization (NGO) and sectoral seats in the PCW: one for senior citizens and one for persons with disabilities (PCW).
These two seats will be added to the group of existing seats for education/academe, youth, business and industry, the National Council of Women of the Philippines, the elderly and disabled and the culture sector as per the PCW website.
“The President really made sure that all major sectors are represented in the Commission so that it can effectively come up with policies that benefit women from all walks of life,” the lady solon added.
“Pag babae ang inangat, buong pamilya aangat (If women are uplifted, so too is the whole family),” Herrera concluded.
