PDEA nabs event coordinator in Tuguegarao City

CAGAYAN – Agents of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Cagayan arrested an event coordinator allegedly for possessing dried leaves of marijuana.

The suspect identified as Jude Santos, 22, and a resident of Annafunan West, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan was nabbed by PDEA Cagayan personnel during a buy-bust operation at about 3:35 p.m. on Saturday (April 9) at Annafunan East, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

Confiscated from the suspect were one brick with transparent plastic and wrapped in a brown packaging tape containing dried leaves suspected to be marijuana and weighing MOL 500 grams, buy-bust money and one unit cellular phone.

"Marijuana is becoming the drug of choice for Filipinos. Here in Region 2, it is manifested by the number of seizures of the said illegal drug,” said PDEA-Cagayan regional director Joel Plaza said.

“We remain vigilant and leave no stone unturned as we rid our beloved Cagayan Valley of the ills of drug abuse, be it MJ or any kind of dangerous drug,” added Plaza.

The suspect is now facing charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of RA 9165 for selling dried leaves.
