Here's the story behind Celeste Cortesi's winning arrival look

The Miss Universe Philippines 2022 candidate from Pasay City won the Best Arrival Look award during the pageant’s press presentation

Over the weekend, Filipina beauties from all over the country gathered in Manila as the Miss Universe Philippines 2022 pageant presented its top 32 delegates to the press. Each contestant brought their style A-game, donning ensembles crafted by Filipino fashion designers. Some wore stories of their hometown and others opted to wear pieces that best represent their personalities. One of the many that stood out was Celeste Cortesi’s winning arrival look.

The dress worn by Pasay City’s delegate showcased a modern take on a classic silhouette. Inspired by the glamor of the 1950s, her peach-gold iridescent balloon dress pays homage to the style of royal women both in film and in real life.

“For this look, I decided to make it a drop waist to highlight her curves and elongate her torso,” fashion designer Ehrran Montoya tells Manila Bulletin Lifestyle. “We were eyeing for looks that are being worn by European royalties, mainly Kate Middleton, and other influential women of the late '50s like Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly.”

According to Ehrran, the process of conceptualizing her wardrobe took a month. But for the arrival look, the designer only spent days finishing it. With the help of Duds Santiago of The CAMP Official, Regi Cruz’s styling, and Christopher Munar’s custom earrings, the designer was able to create a look that is truly regal and eye-catching.

“Celeste's style is more bombshell, sexy, and party club and we want to gear away from that since it is the wardrobe style we see from the past years of pageantry. The CAMP Official wants a more dignified, classy, and elegant presentation,” Ehrran muses. “She was able to grasp the concept and easily fell in love with the style that we created for her. She can definitely pull off any style with her gorgeous face and modelesque body.”

The coronation night of Miss Universe Philippines 2022 will be held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on April 30.
