Government offices, school classes suspended in Bacolod, Negros Occ. due to 'Agaton'
BACOLOD CITY – Some government offices and classes have been suspended here and in Negros Occidental on Monday, April 11, due to ill-effects of tropical depression ‘Agaton’ which battered central Philippines.

On April 9, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson issued an executive order raising the alert status of the province to red for close monitoring, consolidation of reports, and coordination with concerned agencies and stakeholders.
With this development, Mayor Marvin Malacon of E.B. Magalona town issued an executive order suspending the work and classes in all levels in public and private schools in the town, until the Red Alert Status of the province is lifted by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Center (PDRRMC).
In Talisay City, Mayor Neil Lizares also ordered for the suspension of classes in all public and private pre-elementary, elementary, and secondary schools in the city.
In Murcia town, Mayor Gerry Rojas also ordered the suspension of work in all government and private offices, as well as classes in all levels, public and private in the town.
In Silay City, Mayor Mark Golez also approved a resolution passed by the local DRRM for the suspension and cancellation of classes in public and private schools, as well as work in government offices in the city in preparation for and in anticipation of the possible impacts and threats posed by the tropical depression.
Further, the Bacolod City Schools Division of the Department of Education (DepEd) has also ordered for the suspension of face-to-face classes in seven schools on Monday.
The suspension order was issued by Assistant Schools Division Superintendent officer-in-charge Reynaldo Gico in coordination with the Office of Mayor Evelio Leonardia through Dr. Anna Maria Laarni Pornan, head of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).
Covered by Gico's directive were Alangilan National High School, Alangilan Senior High School and Farm School, Apolinario Mabini Elementary School, Andres Bonifacio ES II, Education and Training Center School III, Alberto Arceo, Sr. Elementary School and Rafael Alunan Elementary School.
Leonardia has directed all barangay captains to monitor flooding incidents and closely coordinate with the CDRRMO.
He ordered the Liga ng mga Barangays to mobilize the village chiefs and prepare for possible flooding and monitor the flood water levels in their respective barangays.
He also called on them to ready their evacuation centers that have been identified earlier based on their Barangay DRRMO's Oplan Listo.
