VP Leni's simple pleasures after weeklong campaign: Tapsilog

Presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo took a breather from her campaign sorties as she ate her favorite meal on a quiet Sunday, April 10.s

Robredo’s team did not release any media advisory about her schedule in relation to the election campaign for the day.

But the Vice President shared on Facebook her lunch fare—a takeout of tapsilog or beef tapa, sinangag (fried rice), and itlog (egg)—from Rodic’s Diner.

“On location today and eating an all time favorite for my late lunch,” Robredo wrote.

Rodic’s famous tapsilog is often associated with the University of the Philippines, where Robredo graduated with Economics degree, because its first stalls were founded in the Diliman campus.

Robredo, the lone female presidential bet in the upcoming May elections, has been busy with her onsite rallies the past week, which have drawn the biggest crowds during this campaign period despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

On Saturday night, the “Manalakaran“ grand rally drew the biggest crowd of 220,000, according to the local police and organizers, in San Fernando, Pampanga so far in the campaign of Robredo and running mate Senator Kiko Pangilinan.

It was held in former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's bailiwick, where the erstwhile Chief Executive and House Speaker promised to deliver a landslide victory for Robredo's closest rival former Senator Bongbong Marcos Jr.

Prior to this, the Team Leni-Kiko also visited six other provinces—Rizal, Occidental Mindoro, Davao del Norte, Pangasinan, Aurora and Pampanga—this week.

The aspiring president penned an appreciation post to her supporters and volunteers, who showed up in her campaign rallies.

“Ended the week after visiting 6 provinces in a row...Overwhelmed and humbled by the outpouring of support. Maraming salamat po,” she tweeted with praying hand emojis.
