Volunteers, Leni supporters ferry BBM-Sara supporters left stranded by heavy rains in Tacloban City


TACLOBAN CITY -- Because of the heavy rains brought about by Tropical Storm 'Agaton', thousands of people who attended the BBM-Sara UniTean rally at the Tacloban City Grandstand, Saturday, April 9, coming from different areas in Leyte and Samar were stranded.

Carigara, Leyte Mayor Eduardo Ong Sr., and Vice Mayor Eduardo Ong Jr. mobilized at least 10 vehicles to help transport passengers home.

Vice Mayor Edwin Jomadiao from Alangalang, Leyte has also fed the stranded attendees before they were ferried home.

Supporters of Vice President Leni Robredo also came to help some BBM-Sara supporters who waited till midnight.

"Helping regardless of color. Thanks to the volunteers!" wrote Robredo People's Council (RPC)-Leyte volunteer El Jan Pongos on Facebook.

The Tacloban City Police Office said over 150,000 people flocked the venue in support of Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr.'s presidential bid.

People started going to the venue as early as 6 a.m.
