Comedy comes to mind when one thinks of K Brosas and Ethel Booba. Both of them are great comediennes, can sing well and belong to the same age bracket.
Looks like K and Ethel will soon add ''travel show host" to their showbiz résumé as they headline a unique reali-talk show dubbed Lakwatsika. It is a wordplay on lakwatsa (to wander) plus tsika (to chatter). The show will premiere on April 18 and will air from Monday to Friday at 11 am on TV5.
The Kapatid Network somewhat did the unexpected casting K and Ethel in a travel show, but we see their point. Travel should be fun and we also know that it is during travel where the most substantial conversations happen. Thus, the humor and substance coming from the maturity of the two ladies are very much required.
The hosts revealed that in doing Lakwatsika, they're not memorizing any script and were given the freedom to do the show in the style of a vlog. Everything's candid and pretty much no-holds-barred.
The timing of the show is quite momentous as the travel industry is slowly reopening after a two-year pandemic which greatly affected the sector. Cignal Entertainment is producing Lakwatsika in partnership with Red Crane Studios and the Department of Tourism. DOT believes that the show will give a much-needed boost to local tourism, aside from highlighting local culture and the hidden gems of the Philippines.
For the show’s first episode, Ethel and K will be visiting Masbate and will have a fabulous time trying to be cowgirls in the rodeo capital of the Philippines, They will also check out the secret spots of the province such as the municipality of Cawayan which is home to some majestic beaches. The one-hour time slot allotted to Lakwatsika will also put a spotlight on interesting dishes, trivia, and travel tips about each featured place.
“I can say that I have been to many places in the Philippines in my job as a performer but in Lakwatsika, the main subject of the show is not just the place but the people living there. I have learned so much while filming the show: You get to realize that the Philippines really is so beautiful, It's also very interesting to see that the values and the sense of community in each place are distinct from each other,'' Ethel narrated.
K said she couldn't be more thankful to have a job that will let her explore the Philippines for free. She noted that being part of Lakwatsika is an example of the power of manifestation as she recalled tweeting about how nice it would be to be part of a travel show eight years ago.
Lakwatsika will also have digital hosts in the person of Queenay, a trending content creator from Batangas who has 11.5 million followers on Tiktok, and Marimar Tua who will make her TV debut after her recent victory in Sing Galing as the first-ever Ultimate Bidaoke Star.
