Bukidnon police chief orders thorough probe on deadly shooting in Valencia City

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- The top police official of Bukidnon Police Provincial Office (BPPO) has ordered Valencia City Police Station to conduct a thorough investigation on the shooting incident that resulted in the death of two individuals at Purok-5, Lumbo village in Valencia City.

In a statement released on Sunday, April 10, BPPO director Col. Jun Mark Lagare said the police have been instructed to identify the suspect and determine the motive of the shooting incident.

The police identified the slay victims as Dionesio Daulong Jr., 29, an acquaintance of Roger Hera, who is the owner of Tagoro’s Abohan where the incident took place; and one female minor.

In a phone interview on Sunday, Lt. Pablo Jugos Jr., the Valencia chief investigator, said the female minor was the girlfriend of the wounded victim identified as Dave Soriano, 19, who sustained gunshot wounds in the incident.

The wounded victim is currently under medical treatment at the Adventist Medical Center in Valencia City.

Initial investigation revealed the three victims were having a drinking spree at Tagoro’s Abohan when an unidentified gunman, using an undetermined firearm, shot them.

Jugos said they have been coordinating with the victims' family members and the residents near the crime scene to gather additional information that would lead to the identification of the suspect.

They are also looking into the possible connection of Daulong's previous case to the motive of the crime.

Jugos confirmed that Daulong had previously served his sentence after he was convicted for violation of Republic Act No. 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

"He had a previous case and we are also focusing on that because maybe we can get additional information as to the motive of the incident, as well as the suspect," he said in vernacular.

The police are also currently investigating the kind of pistol that was being used by the suspect, as the personnel of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) weren't able to find any fired cartridge case in the crime scene.

However, Jugos said there was a slug from the firearm used inside the wounded victim's neck and it will be subjected for investigation once the operation is done.
