P102-million new pipeline to improve water services in Iloilo

ILOILO CITY – The completion of the pipeline project worth P102 million is expected to improve water services here.

“We are certain that our communities are happy with the improved water service and increased water pressure, and we will still continue to expand our pipe network so that more people can have access to water most especially to those still-unserved and underserved areas,” said Robert Cabiles, chief operating of the Metro Pacific Iloilo Water (MPIW).

The Metro Pacific Iloilo Water (MPIW), the joint venture between state-owned Metro Iloilo Water District (MIWD) and Metro Pacific Water (MPC), inaugurated the 11-kilometer water pipe system in two districts of the city, with Cabiles gracing the occasion.

The MPIW completed the pipe-laying expansion project, bridge crossing construction and district metering area (DMA) establishment in residential areas of Lanit, Dungon A, and San Isidro villages in Jaro district as well as the villages of Sta. Rosa, PHHC Block 22, Dungon C, and Bakhaw in Mandurriao district.

The new water pipes that were completed last quarter of 2021 are benefiting 5,000 households. It also expanded the water distribution line to 443 kilometers.

Meanwhile, MPIW also had a groundbreaking for a 2.4-kilometer pipeline replacement project for residential areas in the City Proper district. Pipes and distribution lines will be upgraded in the villages of General Hughes-Montes, Santo Rosario-Duran, Veterans Village, Monica Blumentritt, Legaspi Dela Rama.
