Black Mamba Army swept BaliPure, 25-22, 25-21, 27-25, Friday to advance to the next classification round in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.

Royse Tubino and Ivy Perez anchored the Lady Troopers to victory to arrange a battle for sixth to seventh places with the Chery Tiggo Crossovers on Sunday.

Tubino torched the net with another fiery game and erupted for 24 points highlighted by 22 kills.

Perez, for her part, displayed versatility by distributing the ball well with 18 excellent sets apart from finishing with 12 points built on three blocks and three aces.

Joanne Bunag also scored in double figures for the Lady Troopers with 12 points, all coming from attacks.

Despite stumbling into 17 errors compared to BaliPure’s only nine, the Lady Troopers showcased their attacking game by unloading 57 kills spearheaded by Tubino and Bunag.

The Water Defenders tried to douse Army’s offensive fire and managed only nine blocks.

Janine Marciano had 15 points while Gen Casugod and Marian Buitre added 12 and 10 points for BaliPure, but their efforts went futile.
