Good news! Southbound portion of Roxas Boulevard now passable, DPWH says

The southbound portion of Roxas Boulevard near the Libertad Pumping Station in Pasay City is now accessible to motorists after its closure due to repair and rehabilitation works, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced on Friday, April 1.

In a statement, DPWH-National Capital Region (NCR) Director Nomer Abel P. Canlas said that vehicles except for trucks are now allowed to pass through the southbound direction of Roxas Boulevard from V. Sotto to Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA).

He added that the repaired road pavement, which will improve mobility and connectivity, is attributed to the success of the 54.9 linear meter replacement of the damaged old Libertad box culvert or drainage main structure and dilapidated road pavement.

“The new drainage main box culvert will allow a more efficient water flow to Libertad Pumping Station, thus alleviating the flooding occurrence in Pasay City and nearby area of Makati City,” Canlas said.

The agency said it would implement a similar rehabilitation method for the northbound portion, initially doing repair works on the first two road lanes.

“Round-the-clock work will be observed to expedite project completion. Motorists are then advised to use the northbound service road or other possible alternate routes,” the DPWH said.
