Vicki Belo shares how she, husband Hayden Kho discipline daughter Scarlet Snow

Many admire social media darling Scarlet Snow Belo for being astute at her age.
It goes without saying that she was raised well.
But make no mistake about it.
Scarlet Snow, like most children, has a mischievous side as well, and sometimes it gets too much.
When this happens, Vicki Belo revealed she and husband Hayden Kho resort to old-fashioned discipline.
And sometimes, it includes a bit of spanking.
She made clear though, Hayden is more stern than she is.
"Kasi ako kung minsan cute na cute ako sa kanya (Scarlet), hindi ko na nakikita na (makulit siya)," she shared via the "Usapang Puso sa Puso on IWD #Breaking#TheBias“ forum as organized by the Philippine Heart Association Council on Women’s Cardiovascular Disease (PHA CWCH) on Tuesday in observance of International Women’s Day (IWD).
But she reiterated that the spanking happened when their seven-year-old daughter was way younger.
Now, they mostly explain things to her.
Vicki is quite happy that Scarlet is not materialistic.
"What makes her happy is time," she said. "So if you're talking about languages of love, what she likes is when I have time to play with her or just be with her watching TV cartoons - those things she really appreciates. She's so happy when that happens."
Vicki's efforts at parenting comes from her being an only child.
Growing up Vicki always gets what she wants and it ultimately made life harder for her.
"It was very difficult for me to adjust to a life where people pala were not like that," she related. "They didn't spoil me, they didn't give me everything I wanted. Parang it was doble hard for me."
She recalled the struggle was magnified while she was in medical school, during her clerkship.
"Kasi hindi ako sanay to clean up everything. Can you imagine somebody who doesn't even have to wash clothes or wash dishes, suddenly I had to go to a place or I had to clean poo poo, stinky poo poo from people who had a stroke. It was so hard for me, parang doble hard than other people kasi hindi talaga ako sanay. So I wished, at that point, sana maaga pa tinerain na ako para hindi ako masyado hirap."
"And so I always remember that for Scarlet na we train her to clean the dishes, pack away, set the table. Kung ano-ano lang pwede niyang gawin para dahan-dahan matuto siya," she added.
Vicki realizes the danger with people seemingly eager to please her daughter.
"People love her so much. They keep sending her gifts. They say yes to her all the time. But I always say that 'Hayden, for her future, for her future happiness we have to stop it now. We have the train her now.'"
Vicki shared how she and Hayden encourage and push Scarlet in overcoming hurdles at this point in her life.
"And one of the things she did was to get her yellow belt from white belt (in taewondo). She had to study all the forms, you know, do the kicks and break the board...And I was watching, naaawa ako kasi na stress na siya, I could see she's scared. But you have to let them be. Little successes in life, actually help build self-confidence."
Vicki also discussed her two cents about gender bias.
Vicki noted: "There is no bias. Male or female, if you're magaling, if you're smart and you work hard, you'll succeed. 'Yun lang yun."
