Suspect in shooting of truck driver surrenders in Muntinlupa

A suspect in the shooting of a truck driver in Muntinlupa on March 6 has voluntarily surrendered to the police.

According to the Muntinlupa Police, at about 5:30 p.m. on March 8, Staff Sgt. Reynold Aguirre was performing his duty along the Alabang viaduct when suspect Benjamin Aliabo, 50, approached him and signified his intention to surrender.

Last March 6, Aliabo shot victim Ricky Celis, 40, several times at Block 6 Lot 9, Phase 1 in Southville 3 housing project in Barangay Poblacion, Muntinlupa.

The suspect fled while Celis was rushed to the Ospital ng Muntinlupa for treatment.

The suspect was brought to the Muntinlupa City Police Station where he is currently detained.

The police will file a frustrated murder case against Aliabo before the Muntinlupa Prosecutor’s Office.

“It is heartening to know that our police are being trusted by the public even in such a situation, proving that our police are doing their job right in our communities,” said Southern Police District director Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg.
