SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – A total of P1.2 million sales of local products and farm produce were generated by the provincial government during the week-long Agri Tourism Fair held last Feb. 28 to March 6 as part of the 172nd Founding Anniversary of the province.
The provincial government staged the Saluad La Union para Serbisio, Agri Turismo, Lako ken Oportunidad (SaLu-SALO) at the CSI Mall here.
The activity aimed to promote tourism destinations, farm produce, and investment opportunities to assist those in Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to reach a wider market, in a bid to regain the losses brought about by the pandemic.
Various items were sold from fresh fruits and vegetables to processed delicacies such as dried fish, chips, and jams, among others.
The activity also highlighted job placement services wherein vacant job postings were featured.
Economic Dynamism and Competitiveness Sector Head and La Union Tourism officer-in-charge Arthur Cortez said the event was able to assist 127 jobseekers.
It also featured the distribution of tree seedlings and vegetable seeds to those who are interested in urban farming and gardening.
