NPC not yet ready to endorse Lacson—Sotto

The Nacionalist People’s Coalition (NPC) has yet to reach a consensus on whether or not to support the presidential bid of Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, Senate President Vicente Sotto III said on Tuesday.

“We were not able to get a definite consensus yet. Automatic ang pag support sa chairman nila, but then again, may mga kasama kami na open pa. Yung ibang may commitment, yung mga unang nalapitan ng ibang kandidato (Their support for the chairman is automatic, but then again, we have members who are still open. The others have a different commitment, those who have been approached by other candidates),” Sotto said during an interview in Quezon City.

“So hindi madali sa kanila na magpalit di ba (So it’s not easy to change minds right)?” he pointed out.

Sotto is chairman of the NPC, and is running in tandem with Lacson, who is the standard bearer and chairman of Partido Reporma.

“So at the moment...we are still getting the consensus of the NPC, together with the alliance with Partido Reporma and NUP (National Unity Party) so that it could be a Lacson-Sotto endorsement,” Sotto said.

Hopefully, Sotto said they could reach a consensus and decide to support the Lacson-Sotto tandem by March 25, which would be the start of the local campaign period.
