The city government of Mandaluyong and municipal government of Hermosa, Bataan formally signed a sisterhood agreement led by Mandaluyong City Mayor Menchie Abalos and Hermosa, Bataan Mayor Antonio Inton on Monday, March 7.
The activity was held at the Mandaluyong City Hall Executive Building atrium where both local chief executives signed copies of Municipal Resolution No. 142, Series of 2021, and City Resolution No. 3030, Series of 2021.
"I am excited with this partnership since it will enable us to learn how to grow like Mandaluyong City. If Mandaluyong is the Tiger City, the Municipality of Hermosa is the Rising Eagle of Region 3," Inton said.
"We also strive for excellence in public service and we hope to improve ourselves further by learning the best practices and programs initiated by Mayor Abalos," he added.
Inton also mentioned that like Mandaluyong City, the Municipality of Hermosa is also a recipient of the Seal of Good Local Governance of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Red Orchid Award of the Department of Health (DOH), and was a finalist in the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry's (PCCI) Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit Awards.
"We're always ready to share our experiences to the Municipality of Hermosa, our local laws, our programs in healthcare, our Garden of Life Park, and other public services. What we are interested in is the agricultural produce of Hermosa since Mandaluyong has no farming industry. We get our produce largely from Nueva Ecija," Abalos said.
The Mandaluyong City government donated 5,000 Astrazeneca vaccines to Mayor Inton to aid in the deployment of vaccines in Hermosa.
On Feb. 22, Abalos also signed a sisterhood agreement with Boac, Marinduque Mayor Armi Carrion and pledged to further boost the public service efficiency of the local government units (LGUs) and leadership of both leaders.
Abalos and members of the city council handed over copies of Mandaluyong City’s Book of Ordinances along with the key to the city to Carrion.
“We’d like to share these laws which you can draw inspiration from, especially our Code of Parental Responsibility. Here in Mandaluyong, the parents are penalized when a child is at fault because we believe that parents are the foundation of a family and they have the full responsibility over their children,” Abalos said.
