LPA, shear line bring moderate to heavy rains to some parts of Palawan, VisMin

The low pressure area (LPA) west of General Santos City will continue to bring moderate to heavy rains over Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday afternoon, March 8.
PAGASA said the LPA that was last spotted 245 kilometers west of General Santos City, South Cotabato at around 3 p.m. has a slim chance of developing into a tropical depression within 24 to 48 hours.
However, the LPA, as well as the shear line, may continue to bring moderate with occasional heavy rains over Mindanao, Eastern and Central Visayas, and the southern portion of Palawan.
"Under these conditions, scattered flooding and rain-induced landslides are likely, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazards maps and areas with significant antecedent rainfall," PAGASA warned.
Moreover, it urged the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned to take appropriate actions.
"PAGASA Regional Services Division may issue local heavy rainfall warnings, rainfall/thunderstorm advisories, and other severe weather information specific to their areas of responsibility as appropriate," PAGASA said.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or "amihan" may bring light rains over Cagayan Valley, Bicol region, Aurora, and Quezon.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light amihan rains.
