Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez shared a photo of the commitment form of Lacson on Twitter, Tuesday.

"Senator Ping Lacson has committed to participate in the #PiliPinasDebates2022: The Turning Point," he said.

The Comelec is organizing three presidential and two vice presidential debates which will kick of this month.

Meanwhile, the Comelec defended its decision to penalize bets who will skip the debates by forfeiting their e-rally time slots.

"It is a way to make sure the candidates know how serious these debates are and how determined the Comelec is to make sure that the public gets to see them in all of the debate stages," Jimenez said in a virtual press briefing.

"It's something that we feel that has value and we feel should be forefeited if we feel the candidate refused to participate in the debates," he added.
