A construction worker was arrested by police for biting the ear of a foreman during their drinking session in Quezon City on Monday, March 7.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Holy Spirit Station (PS 14) said the suspect, Juanito Gaviola, 23, a native of Leyte, was nabbed along with his friend who helped him attack the victim and two co-workers who tried to hide him from the arresting police officers.
According to the police report, Gaviola had a heated argument with the victim, Jayar Jarque, 31, a foreman, during their drinking session in Barangay Culiat, Quezon City at around 9 p.m. on March 6. The verbal tussle led to a scuffle.
Gaviola's friend, Rogelio Losorata, 29, also from Leyte, helped him by holding both of Jarque's arms to restrict his movement.
Gaviola then bit and almost tore off part of the victim's right ear.
The victim's relative asked for help from the PS 14 at around 4:30 a.m. on March 7.
Responding cops went to the construction site on McDevil Street at Dona Faustina Subdivision, Brgy. Culiat, where the suspects were working.
Upon arrival at the site, the cops were insulted by construction workers Aries Perez, 41, and Ramil Cajes, 32, who told them to leave.
The police arrested Perez and Cajes when they refused to tell where the suspects were hiding.
They later found Gaviola and Losorata hiding on the rooftop of the building.
Gaviola and Losorata will be charged for serious physical injury, police said.
Perez and Cajes will also face charges for violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code (Resistance/Disobedience to An Agent of Person in Authority) and Presidential Decree (PD) 1829 or obstruction of justice.
