
FORT MAGSAYSAY, Palayan City, Nueva Ecija ---- Army aviators continued the conduct of proficiency training flight utilizing the Aviation Regiment’s Cessna 150L aircraft.
The training exercises aim to develop the navigation and flight proficiency of new Army Aviators and at the same time enhance teamwork between pilot and co-pilot while in flight.

According to the Aviation 'Hiraya' Regiment, Philippine Army, the proficiency training is part of the exercise of Army Aviators to hone their flying and navigational skills in preparation for future deployment in support of ground troops in the field.
On Monday, March 7, Maj.Joel R. Aclan, pilot-in-command, and Maj. Mark Anthony M. Rigos, co-pilot, conducted cross-country navigational training utilizing a Cessna 150L aircraft.

They departed from Fort Magsaysay Army Aerodrome ( Nueva Ecija ) at 07:34 a.m. and landed at Lingayen Airport( Pangasinan) at about 08:50 a.m. They returned safely.
In the second sortie, Maj. Joel R. Aclan, pilot-in-command, and 1Lt. Benjamin John P. Cantor, co-pilot, a native of Hacienda, Bugallon, Pangasinan, departed at 11:40 a.m. and landed at Lingayen Airport at about 12:50 a.m. and returned to the station safely.

Maj. Rigos and 1Lt. Cantor are recent graduates of the Aviator Qualification Course Class 18-2020 while Maj. Aclan is one of the Aviation Regiment’s most experienced instructor pilots.
Earlier, the Aviation Regiment and 3-25 Combat Aviation Battalion, US Army, conducted an aerial firefighting mission at the Fort Magsaysay Military Reservation.
In a series of flights using the Blackhawk Helicopter piloted by CWO3 Halsey - PIC and CWO2 Petterson - co-pilot of 3-25 CAB, US Army with personnel of the Aviation Regiment on board Cpt. Mangigil, 1Lt Carino, and 1Lt De La Cruz conducted the aerial firefighting mission utilizing the Bambi Bucket System.
The Bambi Bucket is a collapsible bucket using a pilot-controlled valve that can deliver a concentrated column of water from the helicopter to the fire.
According to the Aviation 'Hiraya' Regiment, Philippine Army, when an aircraft dumps a large amount of water at the site of a bushfire, it helps build a fireline to contain the spread of the flames.
