Rock musician Sting recently unearthed his 1985 hit “Russians,” dedicating it to “brave Ukrainians fighting against brutal tyranny” as with “Russians who are protesting this outrage despite the threat of arrest and imprisonment."

He added, "We, all of us, love our children. Stop the war.”

In a video of his performance of the song, Sting explained further, “I’ve only rarely sung this song in the many years since it was written, because I never thought it would be relevant again. But, in the light of one man’s bloody and woefully misguided decision to invade a peaceful, unthreatening neighbor, the song is, once again, a plea for our common humanity.”

The caption of the video included an address to send supplies to Ukrainian refugees in Poland as well as information hotlines and a link to Help Ukraine.

The song was first released as a single from “The Dream of the Blue Turtles,” his first solo album.

Note Sting is just the latest in a growing number of celebrities calling for peace amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds donated $1 million to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

Ashton Kutcher and wife Mila Kunis, who was born in Ukraine, have also launched a GoFundMe campaign for refugees.
