A diplomatic reception for the national artist for film at Palacio De Cristal, Retiro Park in Spain
The Philippine Embassy in Madrid hosted a diplomatic reception early this month in honor of Philippine national artist for film Kidlat Tahimik, whose exhibit entitled “Magallanes, Marilyn, Mickey y fray Dámaso. 500 años de conquistadores RockStars” is closing after four months on display at the Palacio de Cristal in Retiro Park.

The event was attended by the diplomatic corps, business contacts, as well as the director and staff of the Museo Nacional de Antropología (MNA). The MNA became the repository of Philippine artifacts that were on display during the 1887 Exposicion de las Islas Filipinas, for which the Palacio de Cristal was built.

The art installation exhibit has received extensive publicity since it opened in October last year and has so far attracted more than 500,000 visitors in a four-month period. A retrospective of Tahimik’s films are being shown at the Reina Sofia Museum to coincide with the closing of the exhibit.
