If there are two people who could attest to the thrill of the LAN event in the MPL, it got to be ECHO head coach Michael “Arcadia” Bocado and RSG Philippines coach Brian “Panda” Lim who have been around the league for quite some time already.

And the two are also well aware that part of the thrill also comes from the hype brought by the trash talks and banters between the players and teams.
For the two veteran tacticians, the taunting and shouting during on-site games were all part of the game. Coach Arcadia even felt nostalgic hearing the teams go at it and fill the venue with boundless energy.
“Nakakamiss kasi kami yung last na team na nag on-site which yung execration and sunsparks so nostalgic talaga siya,” said the champion coach who guided Sunsparks to back-to-back championships in MPL S4 and S5.
He, however, was quick to remind the players to not get personal with their banters and still respect their opponents, because after all, it was all for fun and entertainment only.
He also pleaded the team coaches and management that while it’s allowed, they should still provide guidance especially to the younger players.
“Siguro sana sa players lang at the end of the day wag sila magkaroon ng any bad blood kumbaga healthy trashtalk lang,” said Arcadia.
“Sana maguide lahat yung mga bata ng maayos ng mga coaches, ng mga management na itong trash talk na ito for fun, not to the point na aabot sa personal,” he added.
For Coach Panda’s part, he also enjoyed the adrenaline brought by the on-site banters between his wards and ECHO players.
“Actually, I really like it because I mean what’s the difference between the online tournament and offline tournament, there’s so much hype on the offline tournament kahit walang crowd,” said Coach Panda.
“I really enjoyed the trash talking over there on-site because that’s also part of the hype and we also trained our players that if they got trash talked then you can trash talk also,” said the soft-spoken mentor.
Aside from the players, Coach Arcadia also reminded the fans of the teams to not let themselves get carried away with the banters between their favorite teams.
“Kalma lang rin na wag masyado na to the point na personal na yung trash talk kasi kumbaga always remember na yung trash talk for entertainment lang, wala nang lalagpas dun.”
