Bren coach keeps unwavering faith on rookies amid dry spell

Bren Esports coach Paulo “PauloXpert” Munsayac is keeping his faith to his rookies despite the losing spell that saw the squad fall to a 0-5 start in the MPL Philippines Season 9.

While admitting that the squad is still in search for its winning form, Coach Pao lauded his young squad’s attitude in the middle of the adversity as the rookies remained positive despite losing all of its game via 2-0 sweeps.

“Masasabi ko lang sa team na ito kahit na puro talo kami ngayon there is no toxicity sa environment, yun yung mga gusto ko sa players na ito kahit natatalo kami they’re still positive and they’re willing to learn,” said Coach Pao.

“Last season kasi walang ganun eh parang toxic na environment ayaw nila makipag laro sa isa’t-isa pero itong team na ito, win or lose talagang solid sila. ‘Yun yung gusto ko sa team na ito hopefully mabuild namin in the long term yung chemistry namin as a team,” he added.

Although still winless and has yet to score a point in the season, Coach Pao insisted that it’s not yet the time to hit the panic button as they rebuild the confidence of the team.

“Di naman kami nagpapanic kasi technically rebuilding stage naman talaga yung Bren, halos lahat ng players, lahat sila bago. Rebuilding stage kami, ang importante sa amin is our long-term goal which is to develop players nga na parang yung next gen ng MPL,” he added.

Bren showed flashes of brilliance in its past few games and was even close in taking its first win against Blacklist International if not for some crucial lapses during the team fight for Lord.

Coach Pao, though, firmly believes that the squad’s record doesn’t really reflect the capabilities of his players and it’s only a matter of having his wards get comfortable during the matches to translate their performances during scrimmages into victories in the MPL.

“Ngayon sa practice masasabi ko na sila talaga ang next generation ng MPL itong mga to mga rookies namin pero di natitranslate talaga sa tournaments namin eh,” he said.

“They definitely did better than how they did last week I would say kasi medyo dikit lang yung laban kanina communication issue lang talaga eh,” he added.
