Teachers to hold protest action for education concerns on Int'l Women's Month
To highlight the sector's calls for salaries, accessible quality education, and a resolution to the health crisis, teachers and education workers will hold a Zumba session and will stage human formation on Sunday, March 6.

The protesters, who are members of the Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) Philippines, will dance to protest the “dire state” of the education sector and the rest of the country.
The activity, to be held at the Liwasang Aurora in Quezon Memorial Circle, aims to reiterate the commitment of the group to call for quality education and to “intensify the fight for change.”
The protesters will also form an “SG15” formation to register their standing demand for salary upgrading for nearly a million public school teachers.
ACT has been calling for the grant of substantial salary increase to teachers and education support personnel, improve their benefits and social protection, promote professional development, and safeguard the security of tenure.
The group has been pushing for the increase education budget to the equivalent of six percent (6%) of the gross domestic product to fulfill the right of every Filipino to free and quality education and safe reopening schools nationwide by providing the needs of blended learning and granting aid to retrenched education workers and small private schools.
ACT has also been calling for the review of the K to 12 program and strengthening the teaching of Philippine history, Filipino, and other local languages, gender, environment, and human rights as well as investing in research and development; and ensuring inclusive education for excluded groups.
The group also pushes for upholding academic freedoms for all education institutions and union rights of education workers.
