"My heart is full': Robredo grateful for outpouring support of Caviteños

Presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo penned an appreciation post to her supporters and volunteers, or kakampinks, who showed up in her grand campaign rally in Cavite on Friday, March 4.

Robredo made no mention of the incident where she rode a motorcycle going to the General Trias Sports Park, but she thanked Caviteños who welcomed her from Carmona to Tanza to General Trias. She also passed by the towns of Silang, Dasmariñas, Imus, Kawit, Noveleta, and Rosario.

“Pasensya na po sa mga lugar na hindi natin napuntahan. Alam ko po marami din volunteers sa inyo. Susubukan po natin isali sa susunod na schedule sa Cavite (Sorry to the places we didn’t get to visit. I know you also have a lot of volunteers. We will try to include in the next schedule in Cavite),” she said in a Facebook post.

Robredo shared that she left their home at 6 a.m. to go around Cavite and only arrived home at past 1 a.m.

“Ngayon, kadadating ko lang sa bahay. Kahit pagod at wala pang hapunan, punong puno ang puso ng saya at pasasalamat sa pagmamahal at suporta na pinakita ng mga Caviteño (Now, I just got home. Even though I’m tired and have not yet had dinner, my heart is full with joy and gratitude for the love and support the Caviteños showed),” she added.

One of her senatorial candidates, former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, also expressed his gratitude to the thousands of people in the crowd in the sports park and the towns they visited.

“Patuloy po kaming natutuwa sa nag-uumapaw na suporta ng mga #KakamPinks para sa ating Pangulong Leni! Maraming salamat, Cavite! #CaviteIsPink (We continue being happy with the overflowing support of our #KakamPinks for our President Leni! Thank you very much, Cavite)!,” he wrote on Facebook.

For her part, Robredo thanked their volunteers and, in particular, Cavite Board Member Kerby Javier Salazar, who introduced her to the crowd on Friday.

With his voice breaking, Salazar shared that he accompanied the Vice President in filing her Certificate of Candidacy (COC) last October 7, 2021, when she told him that, "Kerbs, kailangan ko ang Cavite (I need Cavite)."

He then told the Vice President that with the thousands of people gathered there, Caviteños would not let her down.

The province has 2.3 million voters this coming May 2022 elections, and Cavite Gov. Jonvic Remulla promised 800,000 of those votes to former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. This was what most Caviteños were opposing when they attended the rally on Friday, wearing shirts that said "800K Minus One."

In 2016, Robredo lost to Marcos by 150,000 votes.
