BULACAN — Vice President Leni Robredo, on Saturday, March 5, called on the clergy to help them in “fighting all the demons” and ensure that the people will elect candidates based on truth this coming May elections.

In her message at the Immaculate Concepcion Major Seminary in Brgy. Tabe, Guiguinto, Bulacan, the Vice President lamented that the worse thing that can happen is for the elections to be decided by fake news and misinformation.
The aspiring president asked the clergy if they could “be with us in this fight.”
“So ang hinihingi po namin sa inyo (what we are asking from you) if you can join us– if you can join us in fighting all the demons that have been hounding us,” Robredo said, adding that with 65 days to go before Election Day, “it is enough time for us to go out, to reach out.”
This “call-to-action” is not meant to persuade the clergy to simply believe in her.
“Pero ang hinihingi lang po namin sa inyo (But what we are asking from you all) is to be with us in this fight. Pag sinabi po namin na (When we say to) ‘Be with us in this fight,’ hindi lang po kami 'yung lalaban, pero kayo din, dahil kung kami lang po 'yung lalaban, in 65 days hindi talaga siya enough (we’re not the only ones who will fight, but you as well, because if we’re the only ones who will fight, 65 days are really not enough),” she added.
Robredo asked the clergy to make sure that national and local candidates are “matitino at mahuhusay (honest and excellent).”
“Ito lang po 'yung pag-asa natin para (This is our only hope) to bring about the kind of change that we need for our country. Bawat eleksyon po, pagkakataon na reset lahat (Every election is a chance to rest all), and these elections is the biggest reset button,” she stressed.
The Vice President said the voters need “wisdom and discernment.”
“My appeal to really calling everyone to join us in the next 65 days to make sure that our elections will really be– the results of the elections will really be what will be the best for the country,” Robredo added.
The Vice President and running mate Sen. Kiko Pangilinan, as well as their senatorial slate, went around Bulacan province on Saturday.
Bulacan is the fifth most vote-rich province in the country with over two million registered voters. San Jose Del Monte City, which Robredo and her team visited early this morning, has the most number of votes with around 260,000.
In 2016, Robredo lost to former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in Bulacan by 190,000 votes.
