Go hopes 'Malasakit Centers' will continue to pop up during next admin
With a little over two months left before the May 9, 2022 national and local elections, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go has again expressed hopes that the next leaders of the country would continue supporting the programs initiated by the Duterte Administration to secure a more comfortable life for all Filipinos.
One of these initiatives, Go said, is the Malasakit Centers program which has helped over three million poor and indigent Filipinos nationwide since it was launched in 2018.
“Natutuwa ako dahil nakaabot na ang Malasakit Center sa pinakadulo ng ating bansa (I am glad that the Malasakit Center has already reached the farthest part of the country). Nitong Marso 1 ay binuksan na ang ika-150 na Malasakit Center sa Batanes General Hospital sa Basco (On March 1, the 150th Malasakit Center was opened in Batanes General Hospital in Basco. This is the first center in the Province of Batanes),” he noted.
“Sinundan ito ng pagbubukas ng ika-151 Malasakit Center sa Quirino Provincial Medical Center... (This was followed by the opening of the 151st Malasakit Center in Quirino Provincial Medical Center) ...Kaya kahit anuman ang mangyari sa pulitika lalo na’t papalapit na ang eleksyon, sana ay maipagpatuloy at mabigyan ng kaukulang suporta ang mga programang katulad ng Malasakit Centers na nakakatulong sa mga mahihirap lalo na ‘yung mga walang matatakbuhan (Whatever happens in politics especially in the coming elections, I am hoping that the program such as this Malasakit Center will still be given the needed support for the sake of the poor especially those who have no one to turn to),” he added.
A one-stop shop, the Malasakit Center is designed for poor and indigent Filipinos to conveniently avail of medical assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Healthn(DOH), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation PhilHealth), and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
Go is the principal author and sponsor of the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019.
The senator from Davao went on to commend the members of the executive branch who were crucial to the success of the programs and projects of the administration amid the setbacks caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and other national crises.
Go maintained that despite the challenges that the country is facing, President Duterte would be leaving a good legacy for the country and for the Filipino people.
The senator likewise vowed to continue serving the public, saying, “Hindi tayo titigil sa pagseserbisyo upang masigurong walang maiiiwan sa muling pagbangon ng ating bansa mula sa mga krisis na ating hinaharap (We will not stop serving in order to ensure that no one will be left behind as the country recovers from the crises we are facing).”
