Tiangco tells UniTeam that motorcades are better than big rallies; here's his explanation

Navotas City Mayor Toby Tiangco gave a friendly advice Friday to the "UniTeam" of presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos and his running mate Sara Duterte, particularly on how they should carry out their campaign.

According to Tiangco, holding motorcades trump campaign rallies in terms of "realness" when it comes to touching base with locals.

“Normally, ang ginagawa natin para sa mga national candidates is a motorcade, kase mas maganda yung motorcade. Pag rally, 'yung hindi tiga don sa lugar na yon, pupunta pa sila (Normally what we do for national candidates is a motorcade, because a motorcade is better. When it comes to rallies, even people from outside the city can attend)," he said during a chance interview.

"At least sa motorcade, mailalapit natin hind lang sa tapat ng bahay pero mailalapit natin sa mga kababayan natin yung mga kandidato, makikita physically (With a motorcade, at least we can the candidate closer not only to the homes here but to the residents themselves, they will see them physically)," explained Tiangco.

The mayor said that voters have many avenues to learn about a poll candidates' platforms or programs, but there's only one way to actually see them--that is, to go to their place of residence.

“Kasi 'yung programa naman nila, madaming paraan paano malaman . Puwede silang manood ng TV, magbasa ng dyaryo, tumingin sa social media, di ba po? Pero ang mahalaga is makita nila yung mga kandidato, at least nailapit namin sa lugar nila (There are many ways for people to learn about their programs. They can watch on TV, read the newspaper, look at social media, right? But what's important is they get to see the candidates up close in their area),” he noted.

Duterte, the current mayor of Davao City and chairperson of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) party, was in Navotas Friday as part of the UniTeam's northern Metro Manila swing. Marcos wasn't present as he is currently in Sorsogon.

"Yung Partido Navoteño is deklarado po na sumusuporta kay Bongbong Marcos at saka kay Inday Sara. Deklarado po kame (Partido Navoteño is declaring its support for Bongbong Marcos and Inday Sara. We've declared it)," Tiangco said.
