GATTARAN, Cagayan -- More than P1-million worth of financial assistance was given by the Provincial Government of Cagayan (PGC) to hog raisers of Gattaran affected by the African Swine Fever (ASF).
The financial assistance to farmers was distributed by PGC at Sub-Capitol, Bangag, Lal-lo , said Cagayan Provincial Information Office on Friday, March 4.

Acting Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Noli Buen said that a financial assistance was distributed to 112 hog raisers amounting to P1, 217,500.
Aside from PVET, other agencies that helped in the distribution of the aid were the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), Provincial Treasury Office (PTO), Provincial Office for People Empowerment (POPE), and Food Sufficiency Program team leader Pearlita P. Mabasa.
The farmer beneficiaries came from 13 barangays in Gattaran. These are the barangays of Baraoidan, Capissayan Sur, Calaoagan Bassit, Langgan, Naddungan, Newagac, Aguiguican, Cunning, Palagao Sur, L. Adviento, Centro Sur, Palagao Norte, and Peña Este.

It was an initiative of the PGC through Governor Manuel N. Mamba to help hog raisers.
“Malaking tulong sa amin lalo na walang wala kami ngayon," a beneficiary told Manila Bulletin. ( It is a big help to us especially since we have nothing now.)
