NAGTIPUNAN, Quirino -- Presidential hopeful and Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said on Thursday, March 3, that he would boost the tourism industry in Quirino province, particularly in the town of Nagtipunan, if elected as the country's next president.

Domagoso was welcomed in Nagtipunan, Quirino by Mayor Nieverose Meneses with modern and native dances and video presentations of the town and the province’s many tourist attractions.
“Gusto koong maiparamdam sa kanila na ngayon pa lamang, inaaral ko, pinipilit kong malaman yung katatayuan nila. Katulad halimbawa yung sinabi ni Mayor Meneses, said they need tourists, and just a little help with the funding for tourism infrastructure. They already have a plan, they already have an idea. They just need a little support from the national government),” Domagoso said.
“If these things can create jobs and opportunities, then it is in line with our goals and aspirations, kami ni Doc Willie , na in the first two years, life and livelihood. And this will be supported as a matter of compromise and promise and commitment to the Quirino people especially dito sa area kung nasaan tayo (where we are right now),” he pointed out.
According to Meneses, the tourism industry of Nagtipunan was badly affected by the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) which resulted in lost jobs and livelihood.
Among Nagtipunan’s famous tourist spots are the Mactol Falls, the “Bimmapor,” and the Pusuac cave and watershed.
“Like what I’ve been always telling before, a peso spent in Metro Manila will not bring us any addition to our economic development because of the Law of Diminishing Returns. However, the same peso spent in the far-flung areas can create more jobs and opportunities,” Domagoso pointed out.
“The same thing, Baguio can be duplicated in Quirino. Meron pang isa sa (There is another one in) Bataan, Zambales, Tarlac, parang Baguio din daw yon, hindi ko pa napuntahan (they said it looks like Baguio too, but I haven’t been there yet) So, if we develop those sites, marami tayong pwedeng pasyalan (we can have many places to visit). So yung pangarap nating mag-16 million tourists hindi siya imposible. Mahirap gawin pero hindi sya imposible kasi malaki ang bentahe ng Pilipinas (Our dream of 16 million tourists is not impossible. It is difficult to do but it is not impossible because the Philippines has so many to offer to tourists),” he added.
